Before he pitched up at West Ham for the first time in late 2017 and also before his ill-fated spell at Sunderland, David Moyes went on a less-trodden path by British managers and headed to Spain.

Moyes brought in Asier Illaramendi from Real Madrid, striker Jonathas from Pescara and two wingers in the form of Bruma and David Concha.

A loan spell at Barcelona B followed but his loan deal was cut short just six months into it.

After two years away at Real Madrid having come through the Sociedad youth system, Moyes brought the defensive midfielder back to the Basque Country for a fee reported to be between €15m and €17m in the summer of 2015.

In his 38 games in charge of the club, the same as a full season Moyes secured 46 points as Sociedad manager.

Moyes has pulled Sociedad away from danger the season before, comfortably in fact, finishing 12th in the league.

The Portuguese winger joined Sociedad on a season-long loan from Galatasary as Moyes boosted his wide areas of the pitch.
