West Ham have completed their first signing of the January transfer window as they announced the capture of Darren Randolph from Middlesbrough for a fee believed to be around £4m.

But it's patently clear that the Hammers need plenty more reinforcements in their fight against relegation from the Premier League.

What has been obvious for some time is that the Hammers need another midfielder.

Stoke City, according to our sister site Stoke-on-Trent Live, are teetering close to breaching Financial Fair Play restrictions and may well need to sell Manager Michael O'Neill has been asked about Allen's future, most recently after their FA Cup loss to Brentford the weekend before last when Allen was rested, returning for Saturday's 0-0 draw with Millwall in the Championship.

"At the end of the day, this club club has paid a lot of good money for players from their time in the Premier League coming down to the Championship and that is always a factor on players, what you've paid for them.

The name Joe Allen has been linked to the Hammers before and it is again in 2020 as Moyes eyes midfield replacements.

The Northern Irish manager has also said that Stoke don't have to sell players to balance the boos despite the looming threat of FFP and Allen is arguably their prized asset they could make some money on.
