Manuel Lanzini is set to spend two months on the sidelines after suffering a fractured collarbone during West Ham's dismal 3-0 defeat to Burnley on Saturday.

The Hammers' miserable day was made complete when Lanzini required oxygen and was carried off on a stretcher in injury time after landing awkwardly following a foul from Ashley Westwood.

The Argentine is set to undergo surgery on the injury on Sunday and his hopes of playing again this year now look slim.

It's been a nightmare start to the season for Manuel Pellegrini, whose side slipped slipped to 16th in the Premier League after losing at Turf Moor.Strikers Ashley Barnes and Chris Wood celebrated their new contracts with a goal apiece in the Burnley victory, with Wood having another chalked off by VAR.The third goal was a calamity for Hammers keeper Roberto, who was given a vote of confidence by Pellegrini on Thursday following criticism of his performances in the absence of the injured Lukasz Fabianski.

The keeper was all at sea all afternoon, with the nadir coming in the 54th minute when he pushed Ashley Westwood's cross into his net for an own goal.

It is now six games without a victory in the league for the London club.
