West Ham United have reportedly ended their interest in long-term target Salomon Rondon.

According to Turkish outlet Takvim, relayed in an article by Sport Witness, the Hammers will no longer pursue a deal to land the Venezuelan, leaving Newcastle and Fenerbahce in the running to sign the West Brom striker.

The 29-year-old had been strongly tipped to make the move to the London Stadium this summer to bolster Manuel Pellegrini’s options up front, with Rondon’s release clause dropping to £16.5m after the Baggies failed to secure an immediate top-flight return.

However, it appears as if Pellegrini will turn his attentions elsewhere to add to his attacking ranks.

Rondon netted 12 times in all competitions for Newcastle last season, playing a key role in the Magpies’ survival under Rafael Benitez.

And the powerful striker may well end up back at St James’ Park on a permanent deal this summer if all parties can agree on a deal.
