West Ham have rejected Fiorentina's €10m bid to buy midfielder Pedro Obiang in the January transfer window.

However, football.london understands their bid for Obiang has been knocked back by West Ham for two reasons.

West Ham would have wanted more reasonable payments, not necessarily all of it up front, but over a shorter period of time.

Fiorentina were proposing payment installments over 36 months with the bulk of the transfer fee arriving in the bank account of West Ham in the final year.

West Ham have been linked with a swoop for Napoli midfielder Amadou Diawara but have been put off by the £27m price tag on his head having spent £95m on new players in the summer following Pellegrini's appointment as manager.

The Hammers midfielder has struggled for consistent game time under Manuel Pellegrini this season and was apparently seeking a move back to Italy three and a half years after joining from Sampdoria.
