West Ham may have missed out on signing Gary Medel in January, but their hopes of landing the former Cardiff City man in the summer have been given a boost.

That's according to reports in Turkey, which claim that Medel regrets not having joined West Ham in the winter transfer window and is keen to make a return to England.

He left the door open to a potential move for Medel in the summer, and the reports in Turkey suggest that the midfielder could be open to such a move.

The Hammers were heavily linked with a move to sign the Chilean midfielder last month, and West Ham boss Manuel Pellegrini confirmed after the January transfer window that Medel was a player they tried to sign.

They told us he was free but then it turned out the player was not free," Pellegrini said recently.
