West Ham are reportedly willing to meet Salomon Rondon’s £16.5m release clause this summer.

The West Brom forward has spent the season on loan at Newcastle United, who are also considering a permanent move for the Venezuelan.

According to the Northern Echo, cited by HITC, the Hammers have joined the race for the 29-year-old and are willing to meet the player’s release clause.

Rondon’s release clause recently lowered after the Baggies failed to secure an immediate return to the Premier League.

The powerful forward had an impressive campaign for the Magpies, scoring 12 times which resulted in him collecting Newcastle’s Player of the Year award.

Hammers boss Manuel Pellegrini appears to be in the market for attacking reinforcements this summer, with the club expecting to sell Marko Arnautovic, Javier Hernandez and Lucas Perez.

FC Porto striker Moussa Marega has also been strongly linked with a move to the London Stadium, so it appears as if Pellegrini is keen on signing a powerful forward this summer.
