West Ham United were able to see off interest from Bayern Munich to secure the club-record signing of Sebastien Haller from Eintracht Frankfurt for £45million this summer.

The reigning Bundesliga champions wanted Haller as they looked for back-up to frontline striker Robert Lewandowski and negotiated with Frankfurt over a deal.

However, the Hammers offered a fee that Bayern were not willing to match and were able to sign the striker, who found the net 20 times for his club last season.

While Haller was on the list compiled Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, sports director Hasan Salihamidzic, coach Niko Kovac and chief scout Marco Neppe, they opted against a move.

The club did bring in young striker Fiete Arp from Hamburger instead, while Ivan Perisic has joined on loan from Inter Milan.

The Frenchman has enjoyed an impressive start to life in east London, scoring three goals in his first three games.
