Manuel Pellegrini has seen Andy Carroll and Marko Arnautovic leave West Ham this summer, and miss out on signing Maxi Gomez, but he could still start the season with a stronger attack than last year.

Eintracht Frankfurt striker Sebastien Haller could be on his way to the London Stadium and his performances in Germany suggest that he would be an upgrade on the options already available to the Hammers.

If West Ham can secure his services, he could also prove to be a signing that gets even more out of their existing squad too.

West Ham signed Andy Carroll from Liverpool in 2012, initially on loan, to be their new target man to lead the line and make the most of high balls sent into the box.

In the 2018/19 campaign, the Frenchman scored 20 goals in 41 appearances in all competitions.

For Frankfurt, Haller was not only a major goal threat.

During his best runs of form, Arnautovic was a menace for denders to deal with up front for West Ham.
