Businessman Laurence Bassini has revealed how West Ham co-owner David Sullivan lent him £25million to aid his purchase of stricken League One club Bolton Wanderers.

"The [Bolton] stadium needs a refurb, the [stadium's] hotel needs sorting and the training ground needs sorting.

In a week in which West Ham pulled out of a deal to sign Celta Vigo striker Maxi Gomez as the club were unwilling to pay the entire ?44million fee in advance, it has been confirmed that Sullivan lent Bassini - who claims to be an old friend - the huge sum.
