West Ham midfielder Robert Snodgrass has admitted the 2017/18 season was the "hardest year of my life" as he commuted up and down to the country while on loan at Aston Villa but is thoroughly enjoying his renaissance in east London under Manuel Pellegrini.

The Hammers midfielder was deemed a spare part by former manager Slaven Bilic in the summer of 2017 and was packed off on loan to the Championship side, where he helped them reach the play-off final but miss out on promotion after losing to Fulham at Wembley.

Snodgrass is the engine room of the West Ham team, earning plaudits from fans and pundits alike for his impressive work rate and ethic and the player has admitted that's always what he wanted to do when he was initially played out of position by former boss Bilic.
