There have been problems in the negotiations for Reece Oxford’s proposed move to Augsburg, as has been reported by the Guardian, and it has now been revealed by the Telegraph that he could even be moving elsewhere.

Oxford has shown a strong desire in recent years for a Bundesliga move, but it is seemingly the fear of dropping out of the league which is scuppering his switch to Germany, as he and his agent have demanded a relegation clause be inserted into his contract, which Augsburg are refusing to do.

With player and club in a stand off, it is believed that West Bromwich Albion and Middlesbrough are set to make a move to sign the 20-year-old.

It has been a steep fall from grace in East London for Oxford, who impressed as he became the youngest ever West Ham player to make his debut in the Premier League and he could now leave for as little as £2million.

Oxford has experience of playing in the Championship, having joined Reading on loan for the final half of the 2016/17 season, playing five times as the Royals finished third in the league before losing out to Huddersfield Town in the Play-Off final.

Having already been loaned out four times, Oxford will be keen to settle at a club where he can work towards reaching the potential he showed when he first broke through.
