Republic of Ireland manager Mick McCarthy has confirmed that West Ham's Declan Rice has decided to pursue a future in international football with England.

The Football Association of Ireland have now confirmed that Rice will no longer be available for selection by the Republic of Ireland national football team.

In a short statement published on the FAI official website , manager Mick McCarthy said: "Declan rang me today and said he has decided to give it a go with England.

He joined the Blues at the age of seven only to released in 2014 at 14 when he joined West Ham.

In March 2017, Rice was named Under-17 player of the year and ultimately made three appearances as a senior international in 2018 before deciding to seek a future with England.

He made his international debut for the Republic of Ireland in March 2018 in a 1-0 loss to Turkey following a youth career that saw him capped at Under-16, Under-17, Under-19 and Under-21 levels.
