Jack Collison has left his role as West Ham academy coach to take up a role abroad, but has targeted a return to the club as manager in the future.

Collison is replaced by another former West Ham midfielder, Kevin Keen, who has left his role as Southend United assistant manager to join the academy.

"I still dream of one day managing West Ham United at London Stadium.

Former Hammers midfielder Collison has been working with the club's academy for the past two seasons, and said leaving was one of the toughest decisions he has had to make.

In coaching terms, I am still very young and in the early part of my journey, and I am a firm believer in gaining as much experience of different backgrounds, different cultures and different sporting environments in order to increase my knowledge and skill as a coach.

“Obviously I am sad to be leaving – it has been one of the toughest decisions I’ve ever had to make," Collison told the club website.

The 30-year-old is highly regarded within the club and would be a popular choice as manager should his career progress as planned.
