Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher joked that goalkeeper Adrian could have his house for free after the Spaniard's heroics in the Super Cup final penalty shootout.

The 32-year-old, who had moved to Anfield just nine days ago on a free transfer after leaving West Ham, stopped Tammy Abraham's penalty to clinch the victory after the clash had ended at two goals apiece.

And amid the rumours Adrian would be looking to move into a property of his own after the surprise switch to Merseyside, Carragher claimed on Twitter that the stopper would be welcome to his house for absolutely nothing.

The current Champions League winners recorded their second European trophy under manager Jurgen Klopp in Istanbul, after sharing a pulsating draw with Premier League rivals Chelsea before securing the win at the death.

Despite having only recently joined his new side, Adrian was thrust into the limelight following first choice goalkeeper Alisson's injury in the Reds' top flight opener against Norwich.

The Spaniard endured a mixed 90 minutes in the final. He had been on hand to save his side from falling behind with a string of superb stops, but also gifted the London club a spot kick late on after felling Abraham in the box.

Jorginho coolly converted from 12 yards, sending the game to a shootout. But it was the tenth penalty that ensured the spoils were headed to Anfield, after Adrian exacted his revenge on Abraham by smartly denying the youngster's effort with his legs.

At the end of his first first start for Liverpool, the experienced keeper was mobbed by teammates and coaching staff alike - and even lifted the maiden trophy of his career along with skipper Jordan Henderson when the drama had dissipated.

Following his departure from West Ham, Adrian had battled to retain his fitness levels by training at UD Pilas of the Andalusian First Division.

But just a month later Liverpool had unearthed their newest hero, even impressing club legend Carragher in the process.
