West Ham manager David Moyes wants to build the future of the club around academy graduate Declan Rice despite interest in him from the Premier League's top four clubs.

Since breaking into the Hammers first team under Slaven Bilic, the England international has garnered interest from across the Premier League with Manchester United, Manchester City and Chelsea - who visit the Hammers on Wednesday and released the midfielder at 14 - all having kept a close eye on his progress in recent years.

Team-mate Aaron Creswell said this week that Rice would go to "another level" if he were to leave the club and play alongside more talented players.

It would take an offer of more than £70million for West Ham to let their star man leave should any clubs move on their interest, but Moyes sees the 21-year-old as a vital part of his plans going forward.

"If you think of the great players that have been at West Ham over the last 125 years, some stunning players, Declan Rice is not anywhere close to that level yet," Moyes said.

"So Declan has got a lot of improvement to do to meet that level but he is a very, very good player.

"I have had the chance to see a lot of players at the top level, their qualities, Declan has many, many of them.

"My idea is to build West Ham around Declan Rice. I see Declan Rice as a future captain of West Ham, for many reasons I am looking forward to working with Declan and unless I am told different or things change he is a very big part of the club to me."
