Charlie Adam Says “Mine Did Have a Keeper in Goals” on Wayne Rooney’s Halfway Line Strike Wayne Rooney may have scored one of the finest goals in his glittering career against West Ham last night… but Stoke City midfielder Charlie Adam claims his spectacular effort against Chelsea at least featured a goalkeeper.

Rooney grabbed a sensational hat-trick during last night’s 4-0 demolition of the Hammers at Goodison Park, with Sam Allardyce in the stands watching over his new charges.

The former England captain’ third was of course the pick of the bunch, as he fired the ball beyond Joe Hart from within his own half.

As you’d expect with such a spectacular goal, Rooney’s unerring accuracy has been the talk of social media this afternoon.

The Guardian have even reacted with a piece on the best halfway line goals in Premier League history, where Adam’s strike against Chelsea from 2015 finished in a close second to Rooney’s from last night.

The ex-Rangers midfielder was probed as to how he felt being second to Rooney on the list, to which he responded that he would leave analysing the goals to professionals.

However, Adam was also keen to mention that his goal from 66 yards “did have a keeper in goals”: Who do you think deserves top spot for scoring from distance?
