Not all West Ham fans will look back on their 3-0 home loss to Burnley at The London Stadium with fondness, and for good reason given the embarrassing nature of the result, however, what the result brought on in terms of protests has arguably changed the face of the club.

The Irons, during that 3-0 loss, saw plenty of fans storm the pitch to protests against their club’s lack of spending, angered by their shocking league position, the club were 16th in the Premier League and just three points above the drop zone, and many took action.

There were scenes that saw Mark Noble tackle one fan in an attempt to remove him from the pitch whilst another supporter took it upon himself to grab one of the corner flags, take it to the middle of the pitch and laud it amongst a fiery London Stadium.

You can read the Irons’ thoughts on those protests here: Very important day in the recent history of the club.

Forced their hand to actually spend some money and get in a decent manager.

Spending money 1 transfer window doesn’t however make up for years and years of under investment.

The supporters have very little issue with these protests as they firmly believe that what happened that day made a big difference.
